I recently read and reviewed the list of the “Top 25 Most Traffic Congested Convention Cities in North America and Europe” in Meetings & Conventions magazine, and, unfortunately, my two local towns made the list.
San Francisco ranked 7th and San Jose is number 20 (and will only get worse because of the brand new Levi’s Stadium built for the 49’ers and other sporting events, including a future Super Bowl). The stadium opened very recently, and, on that day, the traffic and parking situation in the surrounding areas was a nightmare on steroids — more than it normally is (which is pretty scary).
Meeting planners would do well to pay attention to high-traffic cities and towns, as congestion can add unnecessary “drama” and inconvenience to their event planning.
I mean, which attendee wants to sit in traffic for lengthy periods of time when a lovely venue with food and drink awaits? Take a look at the list–use it in your planning considerations because it will make a difference in attendees’ overall experience.
