At GBTA Austin Chapter Event: How Strategic Meetings Management Saves and Mitigates Risk

I’m really looking forward to seeing all those nice folks down at the GBTA Austin (TX) Chapter – for their August meeting on the 12th!

They’ve asked me to come and speak on “Strategic Meetings Management: The Intersection of Travel, Meetings & Procurement.”

What better time to talk about this, too? As I see it, the new normal in meetings and events after the “Great Recession” is that there is a higher degree of accountability. Risk mitigation is more crucial, suppliers are being selective and exerting more control, and social media and mobile technology are increasingly being used to deepen attendee engagement.

At the same time, travel, event, and meeting managers face challenges associated with rising travel prices, as well as increasing hotel and venue fees. I’ll also delve into how today’s multi-generational workforce is changing the way we manage travel and events. My presentation will cover these and other top trends in business and meetings travel.

And, most importantly, I’ll talk about how implementing a strategic meetings management program (SMMP) helps bridge the gap between travel management, meetings management, and procurement—so you can save and mitigate risks.

Thank you, GBTA Austin, for inviting me, and I hope you can all make it on the 12th!

By the way, if you’re a non-member, and you want to join us, hurry and buy your ticket before Aug. 8th: It’s only $40 versus $60 after that date. It’s easy to register; click here.
