31-Year Hilton Veteran Larry Luteran Departs Company

I’ll admit to knowing in advance that my friend Larry Luteran — a very well-respected hotel industry veteran — was going to leave Hilton Hotels Global Sales after 31 years in various executive roles.

When I first met Larry, he was a rising star and protégé of my dear friend Bob Dirks, also a very tenured senior executive with Hilton (who has since retired). I always jokingly say that Larry and I first met before we both got white hair! Larry’s departure is yet another “changing of the guard” in the hotel industry — which generally sees a lot of changes in the lower and mid-management roles, but rarely at the senior executive level.

Larry has accomplished a great deal in his years with Hilton — not just internally, but externally as well.  Many of you know he was a founding co-chair of the Meetings Means Business Coalition established with the U.S. Travel Association, headed by Roger Dow. He has been on numerous boards for various associations and groups, and has always been very active in the industry. Larry has also been awarded a variety of industry awards and recognition.

I’d like to personally wish my friend Larry the best of luck and success in whatever he chooses to pursue for the next chapter of his life and career. He’s genuinely one of the nicest and most honorable guys I know in this industry, and I have no doubt he will continue to be successful no matter which road he chooses to follow.
