The Next Chapter Awaits…

There is a wonderful passage in the King James version of The Bible in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8: “To every thing there is a season...”

In thinking about life, I realize that no truer words were ever printed.

This will be my last blog post as an executive for Lanyon. There is a new season in my life that requires my attention, so I have elected to retire from a full-time career and responsibilities to transition into a new chapter of my life. My new focus will be on immediate family needs, and part-time work consulting and other industry “pet projects” that I have put on the back burner.

I’m looking forward to starting a new chapter in my life, but am also saddened by the reality that I am closing a truly wonderful chapter of my life. Working for StarCite, Active Network and, finally, Lanyon has been such a great experience for me, and I will sincerely miss the friendships and relationships I have made over the past eight years.

It turns out that taking a chance and moving to the supplier side of the desk was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life and career. Working for these great companies gave me an opportunity to fine-tune my leadership and strategic planning skills, as well as increase my industry network and personal brand.

At the end of the day however, it’s the people you meet along the career journey that impact and influence you the most. These people help to define who you are, both in your professional and personal life. I have met so many incredible people, from celebrities, politicians, personalities, corporate executives, to industry leaders and contributors. I’ve had the privilege to mentor many, and learn from even more.

It’s been a life-changing experience for me, and while I’m saddened by the end of this chapter, I am equally as excited about the next season of my life.

I’ll still be involved in this wonderful industry – so this is not a “goodbye” from me, not yet!

It’s merely to let you know that I will be transitioning from a full-time career to a part-time career that’s more attuned with my new priorities of life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for following and supporting me along the way during my diverse career. I am truly a product of the people who have gone before me and whose shoulders I stood and leaned on.

So until we meet again, as we say in my home state of Hawaii, “Aloha.”  Aloha means both hello and goodbye in Hawaiian and “A hui ho kakou” – until we meet again.
