American Express — which traditionally shares excellent global information — just released their latest study on global meetings and events in their 2016 Global Meetings & Events Forecast. Meeting and event planners and managers can use this information as a valuable tool in forecasting their business spend and budgets for 2016.

You can register and download a free copy of the report here.

A few important takeaways:
  • 85% of the 420 respondents said they expect to see the number of meetings held will either increase or remain stable next year. The number of attendees expected to attend those 2016 meetings was also higher for all regions.
  • In many regions around the world, companies are adding headcount to meet the increasing demand of driving growth in training and other internal meetings. The study also indicates that planners are predicting a 2% increase (global average) in their budgets next year.
  • The survey reflects "a real sense of healthy growth," said Stephanie Harris, AMEX Meetings and Events' global marketing director, at a press conference held on October 13 during IMEX America 2015 in Las Vegas.

Of course, all of this growth is fueling demand for space — which has become a huge challenge for planners and organizers worldwide. This is the time when having a strategic meetings management program (SMMP) in place can differentiate true cost savings and space guarantees!
